Hairstyles&&Art

So it's been a week since my last postO.O. Not really sure if anythings happened since then to be honest. It was pretty much just writing my paper and studying for my Organic Chemistry lab final and-.-..bleh.

Sighs, well today I went to the High Museum for extra credit for my History class and also decided to try out a new hairstyle. It's more like a low ponytail with a poofy top with a hidden hairband. I think I'll make a hair tutorial video for it later when I have the time but here are some pictures I'd thought I share with you guys(: Tell me what you think.

Since it was just a trial, it's a bit messy, but hopefully I can
fix all of that when I film the hair tutorial video(:

This isn't really about the hair, I just liked itlol
Excuse my dresser, I'm too lazy to clean it.

here's a weird face just becauselol

This was my favorite sculpture^_^ Isn't it amazing????!?!?!?!?

The High Museum was very beautiful and it has a very modern feel to it, though it has a lot of antiques. I went by myself and went for about 2 hours so I saw everything at least twice. I was going to leave earlier but it started raining and I didn't have an umbrella so I just took shelter inside. My favorite part was the European art. American art was good, but it didn't capture me as much. My least favorite would have to be contemporary.

"The Girl with the Pearl Earring" exhibit was at the museum so I got a chance to see that as well. It really was a good experience. They didn't let us take pictures at that certain exhibit so no pictures): The exhibit included "The Girl with the Pearl Earring," other great works of Rembrandt and Vermeer, along with some other amazing paintings done by famous Dutch artists. One of my favorite was "Still Life with Roemer and Watch" painting done by  Willem Heda. There are pictures of it online but the actual painting is 1000x more amazing. The pictures don't do it justice. When I looked at it, it was like I could touch everything there. It was really like a moment caught in time in a painting, much like "The Girl with the Pearl Earring."

My favorite sculpture was "The Veiled Rebekah." I mean come on, it looks like she has a very sheer veil on but it's really all stone!!!Ohh man the amount of skill to create such an illusion is just dasdfewkjdk. Looking at it, I still can't believe it. Man, I would not have the patience that these artists have. This must've taken monthsO.O

Now, the reason the contemporary art was my least favorite was because in my opinion, it is nowhere near as great as the art that dates back to before the 19th century. You may not agree with me but I seriously don't get the greatness of splattered paint on a canvas. Some of them looked like a child made them. Apparently I also heard that there was a piece that just showcased a shovel....-.- I didn't stay in that art section too long to find it.

I've had and seen arguments that go somewhere along the lines of someone looking at a painting or sculpture and saying "that's so simple I could do that." And then the other person would say, "well you didn't." Sure, it's true that I didn't, but it's more than likely that I wouldn't want to. I like art pieces that are so mind-blowing that when I see them I would go "Ohh my gosh, I could never do that!!!" When I look at works by Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, I see art as a gift, given to us by the talented. I don't want to call contemporary artists talent-less but I just don't feel the same about their art pieces. Kind of like the one I saw today with strings attached to three cans. It's just not for me.

Well, that was all I did today, other than eat, sleep, and all that good stuff^_^
But it's almost 2 a.m. so I'm gonna go tuck myself in. See you guys later(:

Satto For Lunch(:

Had a lunch date some friends today. We were first going to go to Nakato, which is a really cool japanese restaurant, but it was completely booked so we took a chance and found Satto, another japanese restaurant which is also half thai that wasn't too far away.

The food was really good. I got fried calamari for the appetizer cause I LOVE fried calamari. Definitely one of my favorite foods. For the entree, I got the lunch special which included 4 pieces of california roll, 3 pieces of sashimi, and pad thai. The california roll was sooo fresh. I could feel the freshness rolling in my mouth ahah For dessert, everyone got coconut ice cream. If I have a chance, I think I would come back here. Our waiter was really nice so I would say that service gets an A+. Also, the food wasn't that expensive so that's a plus. Here are some pictures I thought I'd share with you guys!!

The left one was what my friend Jimie got.
It was pretty much the same thing but with Thai curry instead.
He said he got it just to annoy me since he knows I hate curry-.- ahah

Me and one of my best friends, Vy(:

Vy and Pahola, another close friend of mine^_^

So this is Patrick. He didn't want his picture taken so he hid behind a napkin.
We were joking about how it looks like I'm verbally abusing him ahah

Me and one of my bestest friends, Jimie. It's almost been 7 yearsXP

Outfit of the Day!!Pink button-up blouse and high-waisted black shorts from Pink.
Beige belt from Forever21.

Mini E.L.F. Haul

Now, like I've already written in my first post, I'm not really into make-up that much. What I mean by that is that I don't like to buy or use a lot of makeup. I don't use face primers, bronzer, blush, tinted moisturizer or the other vast array of substances many people put on their faces. I know what they are and what they're for, but I just don't use them. This may be cause I don't really know how to ahah I mean, I know there's tutorials on them, I just don't want to go through the process of finding out which shade/tone I am or what kind works for my skin type. I have this simple routine that I go through everything and I'm pretty content with that right now(:

However, I do like to take small ventures into the make-up world every now and then. I'm kind of on a budget right now so I don't really want to go for the expensive brands especially when I don't think they're all that necessary. So E.L.F. has been very helpful in letting me branch out without hurting my wallet. Their products are inexpensive and you get more than what you pay for with most of them. There are some occasional misses but you would just have to experiment and filter them out.

So these are some of the products I've recently purchased from E.L.F. I have bought more in the past but I wanted to make a review on my most recent purchases. So below are the items along with their names, prices, and reviews by me(:

E.L.F.'s studio line brushes are definitely great brushes if you're thinking of getting them.
No complaints here so far^_^ My favorite is the Powder brush. I love it so I bought another one just in case I get crazy and lose it.

So E.L.F has this custom compact that comes with a mirror that you can get for a dollar. You can also get these refill pans from their site for a dollar each so this whole compact cost me about $5.00. I don't think it's too bad personally, especially since the I've been using the Ivory eyeshadow for about a year now and it's still there^_^ I really like it, as you can see in the picture, I've been using it A LOT. Now, individually, the Golden Gold one wasn't as "gold" as I expected but it's not that bad of a color. I use Purple when I want a smoky eye for an event and since I haven't been to any for a while, I haven't been using it much. Periwinkle is really nice for the middle crease if you're looking for a smoky eye in my opinion.

Matifying Powder: ehh, it does give a matte effect but it's not really long-lasting. I wouldn't really repurchase this.
Cuticle Pen: I kind of felt like I was just putting nice smelling water on my nails to be honest.

Lip Balm: I really like this lip balm, the colors are very pretty. I got Peaceful Pink and it has such a nice tint to it. Also, they smell really nice(:
Liquid Eyeliner: I've been using this eyeliner for a while now and I really like the precision and it stays on pretty well but I would advise that you use an eyelid primer beforehand to help that.

Matte Finisher: I honestly don't know why I bought this, I don't think I even like matte nails ahah But if that's your thing, this would be a pretty good buy. It dries pretty fast.
Zit Zapper: I don't like that it has a rolling tip cause it makes me feel like the nasty oils would stay on there if I roll it over an ugly pimple. I probably should've thought about that before I bought it huhlol

So those are my reviews on those products and I hope it helped out some of you guys who were thinking about purchasing them. See you next time(:

So I Watched We Got Married....

So let me try to remember how this happened. I was sitting on my bed one day and my sister is looking at updates on her phone and she tells me that there's going to be a global version of "We Got Married" (a Korean variety show where celebrities go through a fake marriage). I've never really watched the show before, except for the first few episodes with kim hyun joong and hwangbo a few years back. So when my sister told me, I wasn't like "oh my gosh, let me go grab my laptop and devote the new few weeks of my life to this show", but that's kind of what happened ahah

I was curious on who the couples were so I looked it up and turns out Fuji Mina was in it. I remember her from DBSK's music video for "Why Did I Have To Fall In Love With You" (which is still one of my favorite songs by the way). I haven't really watched a drama with her yet though I know she was in one, I mostly just saw her around on the internets. But then I noticed that Lee Hongki from F.T. Island was going to be in it too, AS HER HUSBAND!!^_^tehe I was happy cause I liked him in "You're Beautiful." Though I only mostly knew of his voice. I didn't really know much else about them and their personalities so I decided to watch and find out...........and how many hours I've spent re-watching each and every single episode of theirs I have no idea.

I was seriously hooked on them. I do not know if I have ever shipped two people so much!!I mean I've gone from "oh how cute, they look nice together" to "I WANT YOU TWO TO GET MARRIED AND HAVE AWESOMELY ADORABLE BABIES" in like 2 seconds. sighs, the life of a shipper is a hard one. Now I'm not crazy like I have a shrine dedicated to them or anything but I maybe could tell you exactly how many times she smiled at him in an episode....like I said, not crazy.

(by the way, if you haven't heard of them or the show yet, you should totally get in on it and click on this link to watch it on dramafever. here's the link for the youtube page where they post videos also. They're the same, just shorter cause they cut some parts out)

---FROM HERE ON, THERE MAY BE SOME SPOILERS SO DON'T CONTINUE READING IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE SHOW OR JUST DON'T WANT TO KNOW---

Soooooooo it was all going great until yesterday when I watched the 14th episode where they were happily watching each others' childhood videos together and got the mission card/video which showed little snip bits of their memories together and suddenly at the end it said "Now prepare to say goodbye to each other..".....just how harsh can these producers get-.- You can't just do that to someone!!!I was sooooo sad, tears started raining out of my eyes when I watched the preview for episode 15 and the making video of episode 14.

I really don't want them to break up. Just watching Mina cry in the preview made me teary eyed): I understand that it's just a show, but it just pulls at your heart when you want two people to stay together so bad. sighs, I haven't watched the last episode yet, I'm planning to watch it on Friday. I guess I just don't want to cry two days in a rowO.O

Do you guys like HongMina couple too??The other global couple is Taec from 2PM and Gui Gui. I remember she was in a taiwanese drama that my sister watched some years ago. They're not really my cup of tea but I will admit that it's enjoyable watching them cause they have some pretty funny moments(:

If you have time, you should really give this global edition version a try. If you do, tell me what you think^_^ I would love to hear from you guys(: That's it for now, though I'll probably be back to rant on about it Friday ahah See you guys next time!!

Nice To Meet You(:

Hey there!!So, it's been a while since I've done any blogging but I've been having an itch to start again, but with a whole new start and a new blog^_^ I really have no idea what I'm going to make this blog about, but like me, it should be random. They'll be some of my youtube videos, as well as tutorials, reviews, dramas I watch, and adventures that I'd like to share with you guys(:

So, let's get to know each other!!Since I can't hear your answer I'm just going to assume you're shy so it's safe for me to go first. My name is Dianna Nguyen. I'm currently 20 and a biology major. I'm really talkative once you get to know me, though I may seem shy at first, but that mostly depends if you are too^_- I really like fashion, clothing, jewelry, shoes, and just anything that you'd think a girl would like. I'm not really big on make-up, mainly cause I don't know much about it. I have a set of steps I do everyday and that's pretty much it, my make-up never really looks any different ahah

My blog is titled "DeeKayTien" because when you say it aloud, it spells out the initials of my full  name. There's so much I want to learn to do, like dance, cook, play the piano, and speak another language like Japanese or Korean. I'm really friendly so don't be afraid to say hii^_^ I'll talk to you again soon!!
